This week I have been looking forward to exploring sdf.org on my day off and set? up a gopherspace for myself, now my day off is here and I find myself struggling for motivation.
Anyone know of any cool active sdf.org, sdfeu.org or gopher content I can browse to remotivate myself ?
I wonder should we not sympathise with the awful plight our vhug starved FreeBSD brethren are living though and perhaps not laugh at those who suffer the indignant loss of being able to console each other freely by offering vhugs , hifives and other virtual displays of solidarity?
Then again thet do say laughter is good for the soul....
Dear Mr Lunduke Esq,
I applaud your use of "talking pictures" as your chosen medium to disseminate the much valued information you aquire for our education.
It is my wish for you to ponder and hopfully chinwag with your most ernest guest on your #LinuxThursday "talkie" a quandry most serious that I have struggling to answer myself alone.I would appreciate your thoughts on.
Is the Gopher Protocol the answer to reclaiming the interwebs from all those darstedly prospectors
Was initially thinking hosting on a really cheap vps via lowendbox or maybe using sdf.org - they are the only ones that I knew had gopherspaces active.
I don't currently know sdf well enough to jump in and use their services (free option looks cool) and they have been around forever
Will mull this over for a couple of days and research into sdf.org
In a recent 'boring' vid you asked when was the lat time you used gopher://
let me answer you 😀
today was actually the first time I had used a gopherclient (cgo), but now I am seriously considering setting up my own gopherspace now - perhaps mirror my excuse for a blog - all because of you!
I work for a major UK retailer on the "product Q&A team"
While searching an answer, I located a Fake Clone site of my employers.
The Domain was similar official site. It ranked ranked higher in google search results.
It was an EXACT clone, in every sense, in fact it was "better" as was quicker & more responsive
My colleagues & manager did not notice it was fake - until I listed a few things, all commented it had the green-lock so must be ok..
The site was reported
I'll weigh in with my 3 pence worth
The danger of HTTPS is the lack of education in that that it is only one link in chain & over reliance on the green lock is misplaced
I relate HTTPS and HTTP to having a conversation in your own home and in a Bar.
At home you have a reasonable expectation of privacy & confidence in your environment, yet someone may still overhear or see the discussion taking place
In a bar an acquaintance could easily eavesdrop & disseminate the conversation

an attempt to collect everyone’s blogs - so as to not let precious non-commercial content go unread and unnoticed - is likely the only time i’ll ever ask:
please boost this toot.
